Our Board of Directors

Carolyn M. Ruiz – Chair

Ms. Ruiz is a Harvard Law graduate now with the Office of Civil Rights, US Department of Education. Active with Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, Ms. Ruiz joined HRI’s Board in 2018.

Kelly Rogers – Treasurer

Ms. Rogers is Executive Director at JP Morgan. She joined the HRI Board in August 2020.

Ashlie Alaman – Director

Ms. Alaman is Senior Corporate Counsel at CyrusOne and an active pro bono attorney and Board member throughout the city, including the Parkland Foundation. She joined HRI’s Board in 2018.

Justin Banta – Director

Mr. Banta is a fundraiser and nonprofit professional working for the Callier Center for Communications Disorders. He has been a passionate community volunteer and advocate for immigrants for over a decade. He joined the HRI Board in 2021.

Jonathan Lin Davis – Director

Mr. Davis is a Consultative, Project Management and Finance professional with over 10 years of experience managing and improving organizations in the government (city, county, state and federal), for-profit and non-profit sectors (501c3 and 501c4). Experienced in organizational strategy, high-level processes, evaluation, fundraising, financial management, human resources administration, research-oriented practices and design. Has experience serving on and working with Nonprofit Boards of Directors, Government Commissions and Advisory Boards.

Betsy Healy – Director & Co-Founder

Ms. Healy is a program officer at the Harold Simmons Foundation and a leader in the Dallas philanthropic and nonprofit community. She served as Executive Director at HRI from its founding in 1999 until 2005.

Anita Kelley – Director

Ms. Kelley is a financial advisor and Vice President at Morgan Stanley and is active throughout the city’s nonprofit scene. She founded SMU’s Executive MBA Scholarship Program and joined HRI’s Board in 2019.

Richard Lakpassa – Director

Mr. Lakpassa is a financial consultant with a deep understanding of wealth building, acid protection and retirement preparation. He is a communication professional focused on telling the stories and lightning the human experience.

Eric Renner – Director

Mr. Renner is Director of Mergers & Acquisitions Tax at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He is a CPA and CFA. He joined the HRI Board of Directors in 2021.

David Sillers – Director

David Sillers is Of Counsel in the Litigation Department at Sidley Austin LLP in Dallas, and active pro bono attorney including on HRI Asylum cases. He joined HRI’s Board in 2022.

Ruth Villalonga – Director

A former political asylum seeker from Venezuela, Ruth Villalonga is a Vice President of DE&I Communications for H&K Strategies advancing DE&I communications for Ford Motor Company. A PR and Communications with over 15yrs of experience across the public and private sectors, Ruth has worked as Press Secretary for Mayor Bloomberg, Director of Policy Communications for the Bush Institute, and several other roles within Corporate Communications for Fortune 100 companies. She’s a part of the PBS/KERA Community Board, a Board Member of Literacy Achieves, and a member of DFW Hispanic 100. In 2019 she received Parkland’s Foundation Community First Award for her involvement in the Community.

Betty Yang – Secretary

Ms. Yang is an attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She is a first-generation immigrant and has donated her services as a pro bono on several HRI cases. Ms. Yang joined HRI’s Board in 2021.
