Each year on June 20th HRI, the United Nations and many other civic groups around the world celebrate World Refugee Day.
World Refugee Day was established by the United Nations to “honor the courage, strength and determination of women, men and children who are forced to flee their homes under threat of persecution, conflict and violence”.
Can you picture being the mother of a sick and hungry child and having to decide between risking your life staying in a place of conflict or leaving behind everything in search of safety? We see it every day. Right here, in Dallas, TX. HRI provides free legal services to asylum-seekers who -for one violent reason or another- have ended up in the United States with nothing but the clothes on their back and are seeking refuge.
