Yesterday we celebrated happy hour at a great local business, Craft & Growler, with our new Asylum Attorney Mary Durbin. A huge Thank You to Craft & Growler and welcome to HRI to Mary! Mary comes to us from a Dallas Immigration law firm where she spent the past two years working on a wide variety of immigrant matters. While she attended law school at Washington University, Mary volunteered as a citizenship tutor and held an externship at a legal services non-profit. Her interest in immigration issues combined with her background in non-profits makes her a perfect fit at HRI! We are so excited to have her on staff and believe she is going to do a wonderful job! Here are a few words from Mary herself.
How did you become interested in HRI?
I am thrilled to be joining this fine organization which does such important work. I went to law school to become an immigration lawyer, and I have always found asylum cases to be among the most compelling immigration cases. I am excited to return to the non-profit world and provide services to the members of our community who are in great need.
Are you enjoying the Texas heat?
Yes! Although I braved Midwest winters for eight years, I have once again become a Texas wimp and love the warm weather.
What is your favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon?
Hang out at the pool with friends or swim laps!
