URGENT: Calls to Prevent Cameroonian Deportations

The calls to try to stop the deportation of the Cameroonians from Prairieland Detention Center are working–earlier today, members of the Congressional Black Caucus and Hispanic Caucus issued a letter to try to stop the flight.

We need your help making 4 calls before tomorrow’s Congressional offices open. Here’s what to do:

1. Call and leave a message for:

Rep. Van Taylor, Plano, Texas (202) 225-4201
Rep. Jackie Walorski, Indiana (202) 225-3915
Rep. Ron Wright, Texas (202) 225-2002
Rep. Tim Walberg, Michigan (202) 225-6276

Sample script:

I’m calling to ask you to take action to stop the deportation of Cameroonian people scheduled for Wednesday from Prairieland Detention Center in DFW.

Many of the asylum seekers scheduled for this flight. are still in the middle of their immigration appeals. Some have been held in solitary; some have been forced to sign their own deportation papers because of violent force.

If they are sent back, we expect they will be tortured, murdered, or disappeared. Their lives are in your hands. Please act now to stop the flight and to demand an investigation into the ongoing abuses of Cameroonian asylum seekers in ICE detention.

2. Get tweeting! Help us tweet at these 5 representatives (sample tweets below):
