You Can Help HRI Spread Joy This Holiday Season

HRI is excited to announce this year’s Holiday Wish celebration: from November 9 to December, HRI will collect donations to support families with gift cards to purchase gifts and food.

For immigrant survivors of human rights abuses, getting through this year has been a daily battle. They are facing economic crises at home because of reduced work hours and pandemic-related layoffs. Many are front-line workers, disproportionately affected by the public health crisis, and often dealing with the challenges of COVID without health insurance. But each day, they are pushing forward because of the strength they feel from their families and from their communities.

“We’ve been distributing record amounts of emergency assistance since March,” said Elisandra De La Cruz, HRI’s Social Services Director. “Since COVID hit, we’ve delivered over $250,000 of direct assistance, including rent and utility payments, grocery cards, toiletries, baby items, and contactless grocery deliveries for households under COVID-19 quarantines. We’re excited to celebrate our clients’ strength through these challenges with some holiday cheer.”

Your donation will allow HRI to include gift cards for food and gifts in client holiday bundles, which will also contain toiletries and warm winter items. Any unused funds will sustain HRI’s ongoing programs.
