HRI at the Texas Literacy Conference

Literacy Texas hosted its annual conference with the focus on adult literacy, early childhood education, and immigration. HRI was asked to present with the focus on understanding immigration and refugees. Advocacy Director Kali Cohn and Volunteer Director Layne Faulkner shared the complex process asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors are required to undertake as they enter the US. The conference was well attended with educators from all over Texas ranging from elementary to adult ESL classrooms.

We are grateful to Literacy Texas for their attention and commitment to create a platform where important information was safely shared. Advocacy and education is strong way to address the systems of immigration that prevail in our country. Thank you, Literacy Texas for leading the way!
